Student and traveller

I am a marine biology student in the Netherlands and although being a student does not leave a lot of money to travel, my study brings me to some nice places, both in my own country and on other continents. I have been to Sri Lanka and Cambodia, I studied in Norway and I have visited many other countries in Europe. Soon I will travel to St Eustatius and I am ready to explore a completely different culture, ocean and area of the world.

I started this blog while doing tourism studies. For me, travelling was something that made me happy and so I did it. However, during the tourism studies lectures I learned about the many concepts and theories that have been proposed about tourism and the reasons for tourism…and to my surprise I actually recognized a lot. Therefore I decided to dedicate my blog to “the reason for travelling”. Although reasoning is associated with thinking with the mind, rather than feeling, I discovered that most of my reasons for travelling have to do with feelings in a certain way. This shows how travelling is something more than a large industry or profitable economy: it is a widespread social and political aspect. For me, travelling is a state of mind. A state of relaxedness, curiosity and enthusiasm – but it is also a state of heart.

Hopefully I can share my love, passions and reasons for travelling with you through this blog.

Cheers,

Luna
